Statement of Mission and Purpose

ALANEDA Foundation or “ALANEDA” is a nonprofit organization created to promote education, research, prevention, and treatment services for persons (and their families), who are affected by eating disorders, in the state of Alabama and the surrounding region. The Foundation’s goals are to reduce the incidence and the severity of eating disorders and to provide effective, holistic, and comprehensive treatment services to all affected individuals, regardless of their ability to pay for such services. These goals will be accomplished through funding and development of public education, professional training, research, and treatment services.

Showing of “Thin”
The controversial HBO documentary “Thin” will be screened at the UAB Honors House, on Thursday February 28, at 6pm. “Thin” explores the residential treatment experiences of four women struggling with eating disorders. After the screening, Renée Miller, MA LMFT, and Chris Strang, PhD, ATR-BC, answer questions about eating disorders and will lead a discussion about the promises and pitfalls of eating disorder treatment.
